Villas are Grand at Cypress

PLAY golf at Grand Cypress and you could be left wondering just where you are. Jack Nicklaus has built 45 amazing holes here in Orlando but it’s the New course that makes you question if you’ve lost your bearings. This is Nicklaus’s tribute to Scotland’s Old Course at St Andrews where he won two of his three British Opens.

Just like the famous links where the game started hundreds of years ago, he has recreated the infamous Road Hole; the first and eighteenth share the same wide fairway and, of course, the home hole has a Swilken burn and a Valley of Sin.

Elsewhere pot bunkers are scattered like confetti and there are several large double greens.

In addition the North/East/South nines are 24 carat American courses at their best. Nicklaus maintains that golf is about precision rather than power and while they are long they also demand accurate shots and good course management.

The golf at Grand Cypress is world-class and that’s why it was chosen to host the World Cup of Golf in 1990 and is the venue for this year’s LPGA’s Tour Championship in December.

They have a saying at Grand Cypress that it’s ‘more grand than you ever imagined’. Certainly the AAA Four-Diamond Villas lives up to that promise with elegant accommodations set in a haven of lush palms, manicured hedges and brightly coloured flowers, great dining, friendly first-rate service and of course amazing golf.

With its configuration you can play a different course on four days before you go back to try to master your favourite.

And while it’s a mecca for golfers it’s also perfect for families as it is adjacent to Walt Disney World.

As some might say, that’s just Grand.
